七転び八起き

Growing up with a Russian background, I found myself naturally reserved and unemotional. These traits can be advantageous in the world of finance. However, my fascination with Japanese culture has grown tremendously over the years, ever since I watched the movie Unbroken. The Japanese are often perceived as disciplined and reserved, but what captivated me most was their unyielding mentality, the idea that one should never give up, no matter the circumstances.

In today’s world, it is common to see people give up when faced with challenges or failure. However, every great success story is built on a foundation of perseverance through adversity. The Japanese proverb Nana Korobi Ya Oki (七転び八起き), which means "fall down seven times, stand up eight," perfectly encapsulates the spirit of resilience. It serves as a constant reminder that true success is achieved through unwavering determination, even in the face of repeated setbacks.

This resonates deeply with me, especially as I prepare to enter the finance industry, where resilience is crucial. My dear friend Lev, once told me, "Failure will never overcome me if my determination to succeed is strong enough." This quote continues to inspire me, reinforcing my belief that persistence, not just talent or luck, is the key to achieving long-term success.
